48 for Larry Update

Here is an update to whats up with Larry

They have special SNEAK PEEK pages of the silent auction items posted on the blockhead radio site. Here is links to each one as they are today I am positive there will be more than three pages soon! My item is not yet listed on the sneak peek site but the pic of it is to the right

I want to thank the members of teambluegrass that have shown so much love to participate in this and the gift basket that Karen (tindlebears) was getting together.

If you want to jump in on the threads on Etsy or Artfire click the respective venue and you will go straight to the thread. As you all know keeping a thread bumped up keeps it going and more people will look at it and hopefully want to get involved.

Another cool thing Larry is doing, And this WAS cleared with John Jacobs before the listing was posted. He has decided to raffle off his grandmothers quilt. Handmade in the 1970's he is letting this beauty go. For 5 bucks you can get 6 chances to win. Drawing will be held in August I believe, see listing for details!

There is also a facebook group 48 For Larry that you can join if your on facebook.

There are also some posts on Votehandmade that you can vote up if you like. If you havent been to votehandmade be prepared to be addicted. This site is so fun! Registration is super easy and you build Karma as you participate in the voting and submission of items you like. Votehandmade was built using Reddit technology so if you have been to reddit you know pretty much already how votehandmade works. Its a lot of fun for sure!

You can also tweet about Larry to get the word out for him there is a link on the 48 for Larry page that you can click "retweet" and it will automatically send you to twitter with the tweet ready to send!

No matter what you do even if its just tweeting about him, or helping spread the word on facebook or donating a gift certificate to your shop or an item its all for a great cause!

We love you Larry!!!!!!!!

Artfire's New look and call for Mavens!

Artfire has updated the "MyArtfire" page. It is SOOO nice, let me elaborate!

You can see your last 3 months worth of earnings. It lists how many sales for each month and the total earnings you made for each month....niiiice

You can also see ALLL your chatterbox posts (their Forum) so if you want to you can check up on threads you have posted on with ease!

You can see in detail for this month all your sales and the total amount of each sale

You can see all the Admin announcements, and Admin actually makes announcements over there to keep us updated on whats up with the site! Even the bad things like the power outage a couple weeks ago they was on it letting us know what happened to make Artfire go down.

You can also see the guilds you belong to and can click on them to go to the guild page that is set up within artfire....

we dont get that on other sites...other sites (not naming names!) still have placeholder pages for their teams section...shows how much they love the teams...but I am not gonna start slamming "the other" site...

Artfire Also needs more Mavens(click there to see the thread about it). If anyone wants to be a Maven for Artfire they want to raise our ranks to 250 people instead of 100. If anyone out there is interested tell Sara you seen this invite on my blog my user ID on the mavens group is Mayleesgarden of course...and you can email Sara at sara@artfire.com and put "Maven" in the subject line and she will get you hooked up!

Being a Maven has been an awesome experience for me, we know what Artfire is planning before they roll it out for the rest of the members. I knew about the new My Artfire page before it was live, I just didnt have time to blog about it....Time is a rare commodity nowadays, if anyone has some please email it to me LOL!

I think I have been blessed

Ever since I was 16 I dreamed of being a writer. I would read poetry by Jim Morrison, Jack Keroac, and Sylvia Plath, I would read philosophy books and DREAM of being a writer. I wrote lots of stuff, I wrote about what I thought about the world, poetry, short stories about funny stuff. I just LOVED to write, I have always been able to read very fast and comprehend all of what I read very very quickly I am better at remembering info I read VS info I hear. I am very text based...I used to dream in text when I frequented chat rooms a lot, no joke LOL

So I have a few friends on Plurk who got jobs writing for handmadenews.org. I was impressed and so happy for them all! I was on handmade news myself looking up info to share with my team members and I noticed they were still taking applications...so I felt like I NEEDED to apply. I felt like it would be success! So I applied...then I went to bed...then I thought about things I may have done wrong on my application...and I woke up a lot thru the night thinking about it..then yesterday I was sitting here minding my own business, palm rolling my dreads, and I get an email...they LIKE ME!!!!!!!!!!

They say they are "really impressed" with my work, I gave them many examples this blog being one of them, and they want to put me in the marketing dept. Well heck yeah! Thats where I belong!

I love the way life just works out and no matter how long you have had a dream it comes true. I am in awe of my life and all the little miracles in it that happen daily. This is just too cool! In the past 4 years I have had 2 major dreams come true, a successful business in the face of chronic pain and stiffness I am successful, and now I am a legit "writer". Before I became disabled my life sucked really I just didnt know. i have come to the realization that by me not letting my constant pain get me down I have managed to stir up enough positive energy that has propelled my businesses to what they are today. I have worked very very hard to get to where I am. I am so thankful I worked so hard in the beginning. A little voice kept telling me, "It will all be worth it soon, just keep going"
Now in my mind I am successful, no I dont live in a mansion by no means, my car dont even have a/c. But to me success is never measured by money.

I feel like a teenager right now with these big hopes and dreams being fulfilled....I never dreamed my dream would come true. I could always see myself in a "columnist" position, but I kinda never thought it would happen cause after all I have all these kids now and stuff, But its happened in a way that gives me the satisfaction of success and I can still stay home and care for my family, this is a job I can even do with my disabilities cause its not too time consuming (I HOPE!)

....I wish dad could see me now. He would totally brag to everyone that came within 20 feet of him. Dad this is for you. I am gonna keep making you proud, you watch me.

I'm a maven!

So there I am cruising the forums on artfire and I always check the staff announcements cause artfire is so rapidly changing and exciting I want to see what admin has to say...so I see a post about "are you a Maven"

Sure thing I say and click on it cause I am wondering what the heck it is...

Artfire is so cool they are offering some positions to people to test drive the new stuff they are rolling out before its officially "rolled out" This is a computer nerd dream come true. The need feedback on the new features they are working on and need people who can be thorough with their feedback,AND also blog, twitter and just generally blab about whats going on and what artfire is coming up with next..I am good at this! Look here I am blabbing about this oppurtunity so maybe one of you guys out there wants to get in on it before the offer ends tonight...

So I would advise any artfire fans to subscribe to my blog to hear about all the good stuff FIRST! I will know about some things before the press does. I got the inside scoop! So stick with me I am officially an insider...a "Maven"

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and I know I am a team leader on Etsy but I am not an etsy traitor...I just really like artfire and computer stuff and being an "insider" makes me giddy!
