Tutorial on making PANTS

OK kids, as promised here is a tutorial on how to make PANTS! This is NOT hard, its really not. I promise. I will do my best to explain everything as easily as possible, so take a deep breath, find a couple yards of fabric you like and come on!

First I located some fabric I liked...this one was a find! I was very excited to get this piece. It is a buncha Chinese people riding horses and stuff. Its pretty cool.

You will need a pattern for this tutorial. I dont have the time tonight to write out how to make your own. I am sure there are others around just google it. But for now this is for the people with a pattern in hand and just cant figure it out to save their life.

I work with a 4 part pattern I made. These are the pieces to the left here. two fronts and two backs. The U shape in the center is the crotch...I will attempt to show you how this all comes together in a moment.

Here is a really lame picture of what we are sewing here. First you take 1 front piece and 1 back piece and line them up so both points of the crotch line up and the inside leg seam is straight.Right sides facing of course. Sew down the leg from the crotch point (that sounds gross) to the bottom of the leg. Do the same for the other front and back piece.

Then after you get the legs sewn then you match up both front and backs with the other front and backs... you end up with something that looks sort of like the top picture only the right sides should be facing and the inner leg seams are sewn.

~*This gets tricky if your working with solid color fabric!! Beware! If you are working with solid color fabric remember the piece with the longest point on the crotch is the BACK and the piece with the shortest point for the crotch is the FRONT. ****MAKE DAMN SURE you got everything matching before you sew the U shape when you work with solid color fabric...I have sewn the fronts and backs and went to match them up to sew the U shape and realized I have a front piece where a back piece should be. This is impossible to do with a printed fabric but happens to me at least once a week with solids LOL.

You sew this U shape and once your done sewing the U shape then.....

Then you have this! This looks like a giant mess but you will see how it comes together in a minute. This is the U shape in the center sewn up, and the inner leg seams. After this then you match up the right sides with the waist parts matching (grab the outside ends of this piece) and you get this:

This is the front of the pants laying on the back of the pants and all you got to do now is sew up the outer side seams and put in the elastic and hem the bottoms That seam going down the center is your U shape!

I hope this didnt confuse anyone worse LOL. I hope the pictures helped to illustrate what I am trying to say here. Any feedback is appreciated. If you cant comment for whatever reason feel free to send email to auroras_garden@insightbb.com

I have other tutorials on this blog too, just click on the "Tutorial" link in my "Labels" list on the right column and it will show you all of them!

Plus Size Bloomers Custom made for YOU!

I have noticed lately that a LOT of people are wanting BLOOMERS! I just wanted to put it out there to the world that, YES! I make them! I can make them to fit anybody no matter how big...now if your small we may have to talk LOL Small sizes scare me.

Here are some pics of bloomers past to give you an idea of what they turn out like

I also make petticoats! I dont have a pic of a full length one cause its usually something I make to go along with another order, and so I dont make them just to sell...I sell them, but you know...I dont list them...LOL

This is a short one I did as a custom order and just happened to take pics

I can make these in any length with any length of ruffle on them. This one was short to go under a pirate skirt....I like pirates, and ninjas too. I married a ninja because of his skillz...no joke! He really is part Ninja.....Ok no one believes me (sad face)

Anyhoo back to the bloomers and stuff. I have a
Listing on Etsy for ME to make YOU a custom pair of bloomers OR a petticoat whichever you like. If you click the link and the item is sold, just look in my store Auroras Garden and there will be a new listing to take its place, if not I am slippin' just send me a message thru Etsy!

The catch is to get it this cheap it HAS to be made out of Muslin. I can do bleached or unbleached and thats your only choice for fabric LOL. I can make them in other colors of course but the price is different because the fabric is more expensive....you get the point.

I specialize in plus sizes...dont think your too big for me to make you something either...I can do it! I love making my big mama's feel purty. Thats my goal in life...to beautify the plus size mama!

If your really small, like I said we will have to talk. I feel scared making something so tiny I cant fit it to make sure it "works" but I have made bloomers for the skinny before and they love them, so if your a size 14 or under just send me a message first auroras_garden@insi

NEW TRIPPY SOAP!

I am in awe of my soap. You can see why:

Yes this really is SOAP. What I did was I measured out 2 and 1/4 pounds and I was inititally gonna make it pretty and stick it in the square mold...then I got to thinkin' ....thats what gets me every time!

I seperated three chunks of the soap and colored each one a different color. Then I proceeded to pound the crap out of each chunk to flatten it out like a pie crust...my rolling pin has vanished into the abyss...I really used to have one. Anyhoo...I stacked the flattened soaps and smooshed them all together so they would stick to each other and then I carefully rolled it all up like you would roll a jelly roll...I smooshed it and squeezed it some more and made sure it was a good length and thickness, then I played with some more soap...those are still in the molds right now, I will show them off later! Anyhoo, I finally get done with the other soap and I cant keep my hands off this one so I took pictures of it:

Pretty cool huh?

And then I cut it!

I am very excited about this soap...I had no idea it was gonna turn out so awesome!

I am so excited I went on and listed it on Etsy! LOL I wasted no time! I just wanted to share it with the world! Oh yeah, it smells like Nag Champa...did I mention that. You gotta have a hippie scent for a hippie soap!

ACEO addiction

I been wanting to make some of these forever, and yesterday I lost my computer to the kids all day so I did what any crafter would do...I created stuff LOL

These cool cards are SOOO much fun to make. I made a few and wanted to show them off here and I hope to include this new art work in my shop this week, as I am hooked on it and I feel like this form of art really allows me to speak my soul. I can make such a statement without saying a word, I like that.

Here are a few:

This one I made from a wallet size picture of Maylee and some fabric and lace. Did I mention these cards are the size of a baseball card?? The are 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches and fit inside one of those plastic sleeves you can get for baseball and oth
er collector cards. This is a fun cheap way to build up a fantastic art collection! There are sellers on Etsy who make special frames for these that will hold like 3 or more ACEO's. Just do a search for "ACEO frames" and you should come up with a few!

Here is one of thee cards in relation to a standard size computer mouse

Here is one I made from the packages off some fireworks Tyler got. Pretty funny huh?

I like making funny ones, and serious ones too like this next one:

I call this one Garden Variety Consumerism.

The glue isnt dry yet as you can see but I had to show it off. I JUST made this one LOL

This was inspired by the mountains of credit card offers both of us get every freaking day. I chose to recycle one to make a point.

Here is another one I made that I LOOOVE!

This is made from fabric, a batik on the background and random cottons for the fairy. I made her wings out of jewelry wire. Neat huh?

See how much fun you can have with this. I use ALL kinds of stuff around the house to make em! The only rule is they have to be 2.5 by 3.5 inches to qualify as an ACEO. You can just turn loose and have fun! This is similar to the Dotee doll thing I was into. It was fun and you could use SOOO many things to make your doll special.

Feel free to post a comment and let me know whatcha think! I love getting feedback on stuff
